Nexus One - the Google smartphone

The Google Phone or Gphone has been rumoured for a long time, and while many have doubted its existence until now, the evidence is mounting up that it not only exists but that Google will launch it in January 2010. In fact it's almost certain that Google will announce the device at a .

Numerous Google staff have been using it since it was handed out for testing, and pictures of the device have been gradually appearing on the internet. It's called the Nexus One, it runs Google Android, obviously, and it's being manufactured for Google by HTC, which is already well known for making Android and Windows Mobile phones.

Android

Android is a mobile operating system running on the Linux kernel. It was initially developed by Android Inc., a firm later purchased by Google, and lately by the Open Handset Alliance.

The Nexus One will be running the latest version of the Android operating system - version 2.1. It will be the first Android phone where both the hardware and software have been developed by the same company.

No official announcement yet but a number of independent leaks seem to suggest:
